We're probably a lot like you. We think most car accidents are just that—accidents. And we don't need to be suing each other over little fender benders. We’ve all done something careless behind the wheel. It’s only human. It’s why we all have car insurance and, when we cause an accident, we quickly admit it and pay for the damage. We applaud our good friends and neighbors who understand nobody’s perfect and are quick to forgive honest mistakes—even if it means going through a little inconvenience to fix a dented bumper or a scratched fender.
But a wreck caused by a drunk driver is no accident. When someone chooses to get drunk and drive, they’re choosing to endanger everyone else on the road—you, me, our friends, and families. They’re showing they don’t care about their own safety, let alone the well-being of other drivers. And That’s No Accident.®
There are a lot of lawyers in Austin. We are proud to work alongside them. We were trained by some of the best and owe our practices to their mentorship and willingness to take the time to teach us the craft.
That said, all lawyers are different. We each have our own philosophies and styles. Our philosophy is simple: To provide the best customer service in the legal world. Unfortunately, this isn’t saying much because the current legal world is stuffy, old-fashioned, and prideful. But it’s days are numbered.
We are open, light, humorous, humble, and honest. If we say it, we do it. If we’re wrong, we admit it. We have fun and don’t take ourselves too seriously. We laugh and ask about our customer’s lives and families. When our clients are happy, we’re happy. When we’re happy, our clients are happy. We think that simple outlook will solve 99 percent of our problems. As GSD&M founder Roy Spence said, we “think big but act small.”
If you think this philosophy jives with you, please give us a call. We think you’ll like working with us. If not, then please call one of our many friends around town who will also do a wonderful job with your case.
Jon Selden & Company is headed by Austin attorney Jon Selden, an experienced litigator with over a decade of broad civil litigation experience—ranging from maritime cargo and collision cases to commercial disputes to personal injury and wrongful death matters.
Jon founded the firm in 2008 to fight for good people hurt by the reckless decisions of others—especially drunk drivers. Previously, he worked as an attorney for top law firms in both Austin and Houston.
Selden attended law school at Gonzaga University School of Law and the University of Houston Law Center. He graduated with his juris doctor degree in December 2003.
While at Gonzaga, the Spokane, Wash.-native clerked for the legendary Houston-based litigation boutique Fisher Boyd Brown Boudreaux & Huguenard LLP.
Selden received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a minor in journalism at Brigham Young University, where he graduated in 2001.
Selden married fellow Austin lawyer Suzette Selden in 2003 and they are the proud parents of a new baby girl. They live in Westlake Hills, where Jon is active in his community and church. He is an Eagle Scout and volunteers with a local Boy Scouts of America troop. He snowboards in his native Pacific Northwest as often as he can.
By the time our clients get to us, they're exhausted. They've had to deal with getting hurt in a car wreck. Their car is damaged. They've gone round-and-around with a couple different insurance companies. And they're getting medical bills in the mail.
We're sure you have lots of questions, like: How does it work? How much does it cost? How long with this all take? Luckily, we've thought of the most common questions we get and answered them here.
We're actually relatively nice—for lawyers.
